Surface - Current Selected (Selection is ongoing. New artists are being added.)
NxEra Art Gallery is proud to introduce Görkem Can, a Los Angeles based abstract artist whose practice navigates the invisible architecture of the human experience. Born in Turkey and refined by the cinematic energy of California, Can’s work serves as a bridge between quiet rhythms and the layered perceptions of our shared reality.
For the Surface Exhibition, Can explores the canvas as a site of sensory translation. Moving beyond traditional abstraction, their recent body of work; inspired by the concept of the Scent Mentor, seeks to visualize the ephemeral. Here, the "surface" becomes a medium through which aroma and memory are rendered into a fluid, visual language. Can’t work suggests that time is nonlinear; his paintings are not static images but captured moments of transformation and presence.
With a background in Media and Communication and studies at UCLA, Can brings a sophisticated understanding of how energy moves through a space. His intuitive practice is rooted in a lifelong sensitivity to stillness, not as a lack of sound, but as a heightened state of perception. We are thrilled to feature his unique, multi-sensory perspective as part of our curated international selection in Manhattan.
