Polina Lokun

$0.00

Nxera Art Gallery is proud to introduce Polina Lokun for our exclusive Surface 2 Exhibition.

Belarusian contemporary artist Polina Lokun presents a compelling body of work that transforms the canvas into a vital intersection between structural form and emotional depth. Working across multi-layered disciplines, Lokun leverages her ten-year background in fashion design and five years in photography to explore profound concepts of identity, memory, and physical materiality. For Lokun, the visual medium is an immersive lens to decontextualize psychological landscapes, personal history, and tactile form into deeply evocative visual poetry.

Lokun’s practice is a masterful blend of graphic reality and a deliberate, experimental touch. Utilizing oil paint and a palette knife, her tactile impasto technique challenges the linear perception of memory, creating physical layers that invite viewers to look beneath the surface. Her recurring butterfly motif serves as a thought-provoking symbol of metamorphosis, expertly navigating the hidden dimensions of transformation and the human mind.

In this collection, each piece functions as a threshold where raw texture meets subjective meaning. Her contribution to Surface 2 invites audiences to look through the expressive brushwork to discover the boundless, expanding truths that connect us all.
