A Curated Exhibition

SURFACE

616 East 9th Street, Manhattan, New York

May 29th ~ June 3rd 2026

SURFACE is an international contemporary art exhibition bringing together 30 artists from diverse cultural and geographical backgrounds to explore the concept of surface as a site of memory, identity, transformation, and human experience.

Featuring painting, sculpture, installation, video art, photography, digital media, and mixed-media works, the exhibition examines surface not merely as an outer layer, but as a space where personal histories, cultural narratives, and emotional traces are revealed, concealed, and preserved.

Through a wide range of materials, techniques, and artistic approaches, the participating artists investigate themes of visibility and concealment, fragmentation and reconstruction, presence and absence. The exhibition encourages viewers to move beyond first impressions and engage with the multiple layers embedded within both the artworks and the stories they carry.

Presented in a hybrid format combining physical and digital works, SURFACE reflects the evolving landscape of contemporary artistic practice while creating a platform for dialogue among artists from different parts of the world.

Rather than offering definitive interpretations, SURFACE invites audiences to look closer, question what lies beneath appearances, and consider the many layers that shape individual and collective experience.
